A HOUNSLOW jeweller is appealing for witnesses after £160,000 of his stock was stolen by man disguised as a bhurka wearing woman.

A man posing as a woman wearing a bhurka and pushing an empty pram, tricked the owner's father into opening the door of Rajput Jewellers, before three other men smashed their way in with baseball bats and ransacked the newly decorated shop.

The family business on Kingsley Road in Hounslow East, was ransacked at around 1pm on June 8, however no witnesses have came forward with any information.

Owner Sandip Kanda said: "There was so many people who saw what happened, we need people to come forward. I'm just so angry that they can get away with doing this to my family when we have worked so hard to establish this business."

On the day of the robbery, Sandip's 65-year-old father, unlocked the store's door to allow a woman wearing a bhurka to enter, then following closely behind, a man carrying a baseball bat and wearing a balaclava stormed the store.

Mr Kanda, quickly locked himself in a back room and it was only later while watching CCTV that the family saw how four men with sledge hammers proceeded to smash the windows in, before ransacking the store.

CCTV also showed the 'woman' wearing the bhurka, remove the clothing and underneath was in fact a man holding a gun.

"It is devastating," said Sandip. We had just finished redecorating the store as well. Someone must have seen something."
