Burglars with distinctive tattoos are being hunted by police after they broke into the home of a woman and stole her jewellery.

The incident happened on Thursday last week in Stanway Gardens, Edgware , at approximately 11am when the woman had three men barge into her bedroom, demanding to know where the safe was.

After telling them that there was no safe, the men, each wearing balaclavas and gloves, dragged her downstairs while they searched the premises further where they took a quantity of cash and items of jewellery.

Police in Barnet are handling the appeal, and are hoping the tattoos sported by two of the three suspects, which is an image of a diamond shape with three arrows going through it, lead to their identification.

DC Kerry Bonomi of Barnet’s serious and acquisitive crime unit said: “This has been a disturbing incident for the victim which has clearly left her traumatised.

“We would like to hear from anyone who may have been in the area of Stanway Gardens at the time of this incident and witnessed any suspicious activity.

“We would particularly like to hear from anyone who may recognise these distinctive tattoos etched on two of the suspects, do they have a meaning?”

The men are said to have had eastern European accents, with one having the tattoo on the right side of his neck, and the other on the top of his right arm.
