POLICE have released a photo of a wanted burglar as part of their drive to combat burglary with the launch of a special operation.

Lee Luke, 24, of Trevor Crescent, Ruislip, failed to appear at Isleworth Crown Court on October 23 and on Friday (November 6) to be sentenced for burgling a house in Beverley Road, Ruislip, on March 30.

Detective Sergeant Mark Adams said: "I appeal to the public to help us trace this person who needs to be brought to justice. Those responsible for offences of burglary will be pursued.

"In his own best interest I would urge Mr Luke to give himself up at the nearest police station."

Operation Bumblee, first launched by the Metropolitan Police Service in 1993, was re-launched on October 19 to tackle the rise in burglaries.

At the end of its third week the operation has been a huge success with 40 alleged burglars being arrested, 26 of whom have been charged.

The traffic police have also seized 93 vehicles.

The operation is focusing on increasing awareness of burglary prevention and proactive movements against burglars.
