This is the moment when a cheeky builder was nabbed walking on camera - despite using a disabled badge to park in Kensington High Street.

Self-employed builder Thomas McCormack, 43, used a blue disabled badge to park in Kensington and Chelsea in his van.

Vest-wearing McCormack was nabbed when his actions sparked suspicion from the borough's police community support officers. It was later found he was using a counterfeit badge.

When interviewed under caution by fraud officers, Mr McCormack was adamant that the badge holder was with him when using the blue badge - yet when presented with the video evidence taken by council officers in Holland Street, he admitted to evading parking fees.

The resident of Steeds Road, Muswell Hill, pleaded guilty to two fraud charges at West London Magistrates' Court. He was fined a total of £2,983 in fines and costs.

Cabinet member for adult social care Councillor Fiona Buxton said: "I am delighted the courts are taking this sort of abuse so seriously. Disabled badge parking bays offer a vital service to those in need and those who abuse must realise that the council and the courts do not take this lightly."
