DESPITE being forced out of Downing Street in May, it appears the name of Gordon Brown is not going to go quietly into the night, as thanks to Peter Mandelson's diaries our former PM is once more all over the headlines.

Bad though this is, I have just about been able to cope with being reminded constantly about the controversy that dogged his premiership and have got on with my life.

However, less easy to deal with is the sight of the ousted Mr Brown, his face gurning at me from a massive bill poster on the A30 Great South-West Road.

The offending site in question is just before the traffic lights at the junction of the A312 on the way towards Hatton Cross.

It was part of the Conservative's election campaign that featured Gordon alongside a number of slogans saying how he ruined Britain and wanted to have the chance to do it again.

This one - claiming he doubled the national debt - was put up weeks before the election and has inexplicably remained there ever since, so I am forced to see it every day on my drive to work.

Obviously now it is getting into quite a poor condition, adding many more lines to the already stress-worn face of the former Prime Minister.

Please could someone have the decency to put him out of his misery (and mine) once and for all by going along and taking down this massive eyesore?

I really don't care what you replace it with - an advert for pile cream?

A poster for cheaper car insurance?

I'd even accept something truly horrifying, like a statement reminding me there are only a few months left until Christmas!

Just please get rid of it - now!
