Two brothels in Southall have been forced to close following a crackdown on crime and grime.

Police and Ealing Council envirocrime officers who targeted the area last week (w/e NOV 28) also arrested 12 people for possession of drugs and seized 15 weapons, including knives and other sharpened objects.

Dozens of fixed penalty notices were handed out to people caught fly-tipping, cars and vans were checked to make sure they were taxed and roadworthy, and alarms and safety advice were given to residents and school pupils.

Street services leader Sue Emment said: "The Council works hard to keep the borough clean and green. This week of action was to remind people of the role they can play, and the duty they have, in keeping Ealing free from crime and grime."
