A GRANDAD who strips for a living is hoping to become an internet sensation with a video of his killer dance moves and comedy routines performed around the borough.

Ron Sampson of Lillian Board Way, North Greenford, hoped his special skills would earn him a place on Britain's Got Talent, which returned to TV screens last weekend, but he was turned down by producers before getting a chance to appear before the judges.

Undeterred he plans to promote himself, and dubbing himself One Funky Grandad, he has posted his video on YouTube.

The 46-year-old, who can be seen spinning around a lamppost in Haven Green and even dancing in front of Ealing Town Hall, said: "My daughter's friend saw me dancing at home and said: 'you are one funky grandad'. It was around the time George Sampson won for his dancing and they suggested I should enter.

"I've always been into dancing and used to work as a podium dancer which I got into just to help make ends meet."

Mr Sampson moved into stripping eight years ago, hired for parties and events, which he still does to supplement his income as a lorry driver. But his act for Britain's Got Talent and his video are more family friendly. His main piece sees him turn from a geeky scientist into a suave naval officer before breaking into some impressive dance moves.

He added: "I don't take myself too seriously, unlike other strippers who think they are God's gift.

"I know there is only a certain number of people they can pick and not everyone is going to get through that's just how it is.

"I must've been one of thousands of really talented people who aren't going to get seen on the show. But you shouldn't rely on a TV programme to do it for you, you should get out there on YouTube and promote yourself.

"I'm trying to get as many hits on my video as I can but most importantly I hope I will inspire others who don't get picked to put themselves on the internet."

Mr Sampson's video has already had almost 400 views. Check it out by visiting http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5X3Y0ieEVA
