Two people were seriously hurt in a smash in West Drayton yesterday (Thursday).

The collision in Sipson Road, happened at about 4pm, and left a man and woman in a critical condition in hospital. They had to be cut out of the wreckage by firefighters.

They were believed to have been passengers in a Vauxhall Astra car. Its driver only suffered minor injuries.

The drivers of the other cars involved also suffered minor injuries.

The Metropolitan police said four cars were involved although London Fire Brigade said it was three.

London Ambulance Service said it sent four crews to the scene and treated a woman in her 30s for head and face injuries and a man aged 24 for chest and abdominal injuries.

Another woman in her 30s was treated for chest pain.

All were taken to St Mart's Hospital in Paddington.

Four fire appliances, from Hillingdon, Hayes and Heathrow fire stations, plus a fire rescue unit from Heston, attended and were on scene for about an hour.
