A burst water pipe at Ealing Hospital has today forced the closure of theatres and the urgent care centre.

Initial statements from the hospital confirmed they would be accepting patients by 2.45pm however this has now been extended to early evening at the earliest.

It is believed the water pipe has burst in theatres in the hospital which is run by London North West Healthcare NHS Trust.

On the hospital website a statement reads: 'Due to a burst water pipe in theatres at Ealing Hospital, we have been forced to close theatres and the Urgent Care Centre today (Friday January 9 ).

'We will not be receiving walk-in patients until early this evening at the earliest (Friday January 9 ).'

A London North West Healthcare NHS Trust spokeswoman said: “Due to a burst water pipe at Ealing Hospital, the Urgent Care Centre at Ealing Hospital is currently closed.  We hope to reopen it later this afternoon and updates will be posted regularly on our website www.lnwh.nhs.uk . In the meantime if you need an urgent care centre or A&E in the Ealing area please call NHS 111 for advice or in the event of an emergency call 999 as normal.”
