An inspirational nine-year-old will have her waist-length locks cut off and made into a wig for a child being treated for cancer.

Nell Vaul lives in Ickenham with her mum Karen, dad Lee and older brother Alfie. She is in year four at Glebe Primary School in Ickenham.

"Originally Nell just wanted to have her hair cut to just past her shoulders but after her aunt and cousin did a sponsored swim she decided that she wanted to raise some money for charity herself," explained Karen. She was even more inspired seeing Jessie J shave her hair off for Comic Relief."

Nell is raising money for the Little Princess Trust, a charity that provides real hair wigs for children suffering hair loss from cancer.

Nell has very long thick hair, which is past her waist line. On the Wednesday, July 16 she will have her long, thick hair cut from her waist to her chin at JKM Hair salon in West Ruislip.

"She decided to go shorter so that she could give more of her hair to the charity," added Karen.

As Nell has so much hair it will be cut off in one chunk and this hair will also be used to make a wig. Each wig costs £350 to make and it was Nell’s intention to try and raise this figure. But people were so impressed with her idea, she managed to collect more than £1,000 in just six days

"We are hopeful that between now and the date that she has her hair cut that she is able to raise even more money for this fantastic charity so that more children can benefit from having a wig made," added Karen.
