SHOCKED neighbours say they are frightened to leave their homes after a young mother was found dying in the street with her hand cut off.

A post mortem result released this morning confirmed 28-year-old mum-of-two Geeta Alukha died of a severe head wound.

She was discovered by a passer-by in Braund Avenue, Greenford, on Monday at about 7pm and died about four hours later at 11.20pm.

Michael Pack, neighbourhood watch co-ordinator for Braund Avenue, said: "People are very disturbed, not just in Braund Avenue but in the whole area. People feel less safe than they did before the murder and say they are frightened to walk out in the evening, especially old people.

"All I can say is I think this happened for personal reasons, we haven't got maniacs coming round here attacking strangers.

"But I object to the Greenford Broadway and Lady Margaret safer neighbourhood teams (SNTs) being moved from Greenford Police Station to the Grand Union Village, they should be in the middle of Greenford."

Mike Roberts, neighbourhood watch co-ordinator for Greenway Gardens nearby, said: "People are very concerned, there has now been two stabbings and a murder within 100 yards of here in the past few months. And that's not including the murder under Greenford Roundabout. This is quite a rise in violent crime and we shouldn't have had our safer neighbourhood team move up to Grand Union Village.

But Inspector Dominic Lemonde, in charge of safer neighbourhood teams in the north of the borough, said: There are now more officers in the area since the two teams moved.

He said: "We've filled their space with a team off 11 community support officers funded by the local authority who patrol the area lead by a sergeant and three other SNTs are still based at Greenford Police Station.

"And even though the Greenford Broadway and Lady Margaret teams have moved, they are still patrolling their areas fully."
