I AM writing regarding a letter printed in the Chronicle on July 9 from RABBE (Residents Against Building on Brabazon Estate) criticising BERA (Brabazon Estate Residents' Association).

All I can say is that BERA came about in May 2008 after the first consultation with Hounslow Homes about the regeneration plans proposed.

The people who supported creating the residents' association have in fact worked hard to try to change the estate as a whole, for all who live on it, organising football and activities for the kids, fun days and a multicultural day for all, as well as working on the regeneration plans.

Work has been carried out to improve the estate over the last two years and the problem with rubbish being dumped is being addressed at last thanks to BERA.

I would just like to say if the people had joined forces at the beginning and had bothered to be involved in the first place, instead of waiting two years to set up RABBE, everyone on the estate interested in the outcome of the regeneration would have had added strength. In boycotting the fun day they have shown their lack of interest in the estate community as a whole. I am just interested in where I live.
