THIEVES stole a BMX bike worth £600 from a park which a 12-year-old boy had saved up to buy.

The bike was stolen from Fassnidge Park, Uxbridge, near the the skate park section, at around 3.30pm on Saturday April 16. The boy's mother has criticised the thieves, appealing for the bike's safe return.

Jane Box, from Uxbridge, said: "My son saved all of his pocked money from birthdays and Christmas' to buy this bike, as well as earning money by washing cars. I am so angry that somebody could just take this bike, it was his pride and joy, and he had only had it for four months.

"An older boy came in and convinced by son into letting him ride it, and he rode straight out of the park. Then he came back in and said it had been stolen from outside the park. We haven't seen the bike since, police need to take this seriously."

The bike was a black and gold BMX Premium Deathtrap model. Mrs Box said she had reported the theft to police, but so far their enquiries had wielded no answers.

Police have asked anyone with information to call 0208 246 1855.
