A 16-year-old boy has been arrested after a teenager died when he was stabbed in Westminster last night.

The 18-year-old male victim was found with stab wounds at 10.40pm yesterday (January 8) in Salisbury Street, in the Lisson Grove area after a group was seen running towards Edgware Road.

He was taken by London Ambulance Service to hospital but was pronounced dead moments later at 11.24pm.

His next of kin have been informed and formal identification will take place soon.

The Met Police have opened a murder incident room, with DCI Noel McHugh of the Homicide and Major Crime Command leading it.

He said: “I would urge anyone who was in the Salisbury Street area and witnessed what happened to come forward and speak with police.

“I know that there were several youths in the area at the time of the stabbing and I am appealing directly to them to come forward and speak with officers.

“I would also like to speak with anyone who saw this group running south towards Edgware Road.”

At about 3am today (January 9), a 16-year-old boy attended a central London police station where he was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.
