Last week, Boris Johnson announced to Londoners that he will not be increasing their council tax bills for the coming year. There will be no increase in the precept.
His first budget, announced last Wednesday, has brought good housekeeping to City Hall. It brings to an end the eight years of the continuously rising council tax bills that Ken Livingstone imposed on Londoners.
However, there will be no cut in services; on the contrary. There will be an extra 500 police officers and PCSOs as a result London's transport will be safer to use.
The wasting of millions of pounds on Livingstone's 'Londoner' has ended.
Boris is introducing efficiencies, that is what people voted for, that is what they expect in these recession-ary times and the whole of London will benefit from this Mayor's first budget.
