Boris Johnson could make his bid to become the Conservative candidate for Uxbridge and South Ruislip at any moment after nominations opened on Friday (August 8).

The Uxbridge and South Ruislip Conservative Association, chaired by Hillingdon Councillor Wayne Bridges, will make the final decision on who its next Conservative candidate for the seat will be in September.

The association will not be able to reveal if - or more likely when - Mr Johnson has applied for the position.

But sources within the association are split on the timing.

Some think news the Mayor of London has thrown his hat into the ring is likely to leak at some point this week.

Others speculate that he will wait until near to the end of the application period - August 28 - to make his move.

But most are in agreement that it is more than likely the London Mayor will look to stand as a borough MP in the next general election.

We will of course bring you the news as soon as we hear it, if Mr Johnson has been nominated to run as a candidate for the Tory safe seat.
