A BOOKSHOP, which has become an integral part of the community, has been nominated for its support for the local hospice.

The Pitshanger Bookshop, first opened in September 1994 by Bee and Walter Wyeth in Pitshanger Lane, Ealing, was nominated by Helen Ryan, fund-raising manager for Meadow House Hospice, who said:"I am delighted with the continuous support which Walter and Bee provided to myself and the supporters of MH.

"They are committed and passionate in doing all they can in the Community to 'spread the word' of our service and enlist new supporters. They have been a 'sounding board' for me personally to position MH Day so successfully and they are a pleasure to know."

The Wyeths are renowned for bringing writers and poets into the shop for free evening events as often as possible and are planning a Love Pitshanger campaign: compiling a directory of needs and services in the area.

Walter, 50,said: "We are very pleased to be nominated. It's always good to be recognised for what you do in the community. It's a tribute to the community what has been raised for Meadow House. All we have to do is raise the subject and they come and help."
