The exotic sounds, tastes and fragrances of India brought a bit of extra colour to Uxbridge on Thursday (March 12).

The Fusion Bollywood Festival was held at Hillingdon Sport and Leisure Complex, in Gatting Way, and culminated in Festival of Colour finale which saw revellers throw coloured powder over each other to celebrate the Hindi Holi festival.

The day of events raised money for the British Heart Foundation and began with a Bollywood dance class in the morning, attended by around 40 people. It included four instructors and Indian make-up and henna tattoo artists.

In the afternoon was an Indian buffet, before a crowd of nearly 50 people took part in the Holi paint-throwing at the end.

Organiser Lindsey Perry said: “It was a great day. A lot of people didn’t know it was going on but joined us. There was lots of colour everywhere.”
