POLICE teams searching for a missing pensioner have discovered her body in an open field.

Catherine Carlin, 93, went missing from her home in Windmill Hill on Sunday, November 30.

She was reported missing by concerned relatives earlier this week and police issued an appeal for sightings of her and mounted a big investigation using helicopters to search for her.

It is believed she left her house at 11.45pm on Sunday evening to go to Mount Vernon Hospital, in Rickmansworth Road, Northwood after becoming confused over a hospital appointment.

The body was found in open land near Mount Vernon Hospital yesterday as police stepped up their search.

A formal identification is set to take place today, with the cause of death being treated as unexplained but not suspicious.
