The owner of a business near to the scene of a brutal stabbing that left a teenager hospitalised has told of the moment he and his customers rushed out to help the victim.

The victim, a man believed to be aged 18, was stabbed outside Eastcote station in Field End Road, Eastcote, at around 10.35pm on Monday, October 27.

Niaz Gholam, who runs Hot Red Chillis nearby, was working that night when a man ran into his takeaway pleading for tissues to stop his friend's bleeding.

Mr Gholam, 29, said: “He was a bit panicked. His eyes were popped out. I gave him a bunch and he ran off. I ran after him and I saw the guy was bleeding from the chest and the thigh. When I saw the guy was bleeding I said: 'Just keep it pressed so you can contain it for a couple of minutes."

He added: “I think everybody was panicked.”

Police and ambulance crews arrived at around 10.35pm. The victim was treated at the scene before being taken to a central London hospital, where his condition was said at the time to be serious but not life-threatening. However, he was released from hospital today.

Mr Gholam said the victim was a regular at his takeaway.

He said: “He usually comes here once a day. The poor guy. He's brilliant, very well-mannered, always giving respect.”

Other nearby businesses have also told of their shock at the stabbing.

Najiv Abdul, a pizza-maker at The Village Pizza, across the road from the station, said: “It's shocking news. Nothing has happened like this before in this area. It's a very crowded area. People are coming out of the station so it was just crazy.”

He added: “My colleague said the road was blocked and loads of police were there. It was blocked for two or three hours I think.”

Police have launched an investigation into the incident but no arrests have yet been made. Anyone with information should call 101.
