Eccentric Big Brother contestant, Kathreya Kasisopa, has won the hearts of the nation with her kooky antics.
But before reality TV fame Kathreya, who is also known as Kat, had already won the heart of Harrow man, Malcolm Burton.
This week Mr Burton's colleague and friend, Lily Ncube, spoke to the Observer about the couple's marriage and how she is backing the funny Thai to win the show.
The writer, who also lives in Harrow, is helping Mr Burton write his memoirs and remembers when the couple were going through a divorce.
She said: "Malcolm first met Kat when she was working at her uncle's restaurant in Harrow. She had came from Thailand to study English over here. Malcolm would go to the restaurant and they really got on well. Then she began helping him to care for his elderly mother. Over time they became very close."
Malcolm, 58, of The Bye Way, Harrow, is a medical assistant and owns his own private ambulance company, Medic Org UK, which is based in the borough. The former Belmont Secondary Modern School pupil also served in the army in South-East Asia.
The couple tied the knot in June 2002 but according to Miss Ncube they soon drifted apart due to pressures from Kat's family and nearly a 30 year age gap. Malcolm and Kat, who is now 30, split and officially divorced last November.
Ms Ncube said: "Malcolm spoke of difficulties while he was married to Kat. I think her family didn't really agree with the marriage which put a strain on their relationship. The age gap also played a part.
"After that it just fell apart but they still remained very good friends. She even hinted to Malcolm that she may be going on Big Brother."
Ms Ncube also remembers meeting Kat just before entering the house. She said: "She is a great girl. When I watch her she is always helping others. You can tell she loves to party and loves having a good time."
And the mother-of-two is backing Kat to win the show and is tipping her to become a great success after she leaves the house. She said: "Of course I want her to win. She is a wonderful person. She is fun and kind and she has the making of being a celebrity. I think we will be seeing a lot more of Kat."
