A MUSICIAN caught the attention of Northwood students with a special performance and a message to keep clear of drugs.

Robbie Boyd, who fronts The Robbie Boyd Band, visited Northwood School, in Potter Street, to give an awareness talk on behalf of DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education).

His folk band has performed on ITV’s This Morning and is already in the top 20 of MTV’s Brand New Unsigned 2013.

Robbie has been visiting schools throughout London to spread the anti-drug message.

Teacher Chris Clyne arranged for him to visit Northwood.

“Friday was an outstanding success. Robbie played songs and then talked to the students about the dangers of drugs and peer pressure while growing up, drawing on his own experiences.

“The students were absolutely captivated and it was great for them to have an important topic delivered by someone they related to.

“Robbie was a star, spending lots of time after the performances chatting to students and signing CDs,” said Mr Clyne.

“He helped to deliver a more memorable and resonating message about anti-drugs than just a teacher standing there saying: ‘Drugs are bad’.”
