Harrow Council has paid tribute to former mayor Bobbie Feakins MBE who died earlier this month.

Mr Feakins died on April 3 at the age of 99.

After first being elected in 1964, Feakins served as a Conservative Member for 30 years.

He had the privilege of serving as Mayor of Harrow twice during his time in politics in 1982 and 1993.

Mr Feakins also represented Kenton between 1964 and 1978 and Kenton West from 1978 to 1994 following Boundary Commission changes.

He was described as taking a leading role in politics, frequently chairing major council committees.

In a statement, current Mayor of Harrow Cllr Ajay Maru said: “Bobbie’s incredible accolade and achievements during his lifetime will remain absolutely outstanding.

“Bobbie served the people of Harrow with distinction, including being honoured with the Mayoralty on two occasions; a feat unequalled in the history of the borough.

“Bobbie is held in the greatest respect by all those who were fortunate to have known him. He will be greatly missed by his friends and colleagues and our community in general.”

The funeral service will be held at All Saints' Church, Harrow Weald, on Friday (April 17) at 11.30am.
