HERE is a new year's resolution with a difference: what about resolving to achieve justice for all the people - Palestinians and Israelis - who were so terribly affected by the devastating conflict in the region two years ago?

Good idea but hopelessly idealistic? No, it's actually perfectly realistic. Amnesty has launched a new campaign demanding justice through the United Nations. Readers can support this at www.amnesty. org.uk/gaza.

Our call is for the foreign secretary, William Hague, to support moves at the UN to ensure that the issue is referred to the security council for action - potentially for an International Criminal Court investigation.

Approximately 1,400 Palestinians - the majority civilians - and 13 Israelis were killed in Gaza's bloodiest ever conflict this time two years ago.

Neither Israel nor Hamas has properly investigated the terrible incidents that occurred. We now need an international justice solution.

January 18 is Amnesty's Global Day of Action for all the victims of the Gaza conflict. Why not make it your new year's resolution to support this worthy cause?
