Many people who work at the BBC in Shepherd's Bush are dismayed by the corporation's refusal to broadcast the Distress Emergency Committee's appeal to help relieve the humanitarian disaster in Gaza.
Although it is good to see one of our Hammersmith MPs, Andy Slaughter, calling for the BBC to change its mind, there seems little prospect of the BBC reversing its decision.
Gaza's only flour mill has been destroyed and United Nations schools and hospitals were attacked and severely damaged.
Reconstruction is going to cost many millions and meanwhile humanitarian aid is essential.
Paradoxically the BBC's refusal has given the appeal considerable publicity, and I hope the Red
Cross, Oxfam, Christian Aid and all other charities involved are receiving great support.
The appeal can be contacted on www.dec.org.uk and donations sent to DEC Gaza Crisis, PO Box 999, London EC3A 3AA.
