This is the woman police want to speak to after a baby was found abandoned on a trolley at West Middlesex Hospital.

She was captured on the hospital's CCTV on Tuesday at about 7.15pm, just over an hour before staff discovered the newborn girl.

Cops believe the woman may have some knowledge of where the youngster, believed to have been born earlier that day, may be.

The tot is safe and in 'good health' but police and nurses are concerned for the mother's safety and have urged her to get in touch.

DCI Glenn Gavin, of the Met's Child Abuse Investigation Team, said: "We are told by the hospital the little girl is doing well, but because staff at the hospital have no knowledge of her background she is at present having to undergo various tests.

"The nurses have named her Jane after the member of staff who found her.

'We wish to identify the mother so that we can ensure that she is well and receives all possible help to deal with the situation she has found herself in.

"By leaving the baby at the hospital we have no doubt that she wants her baby to receive care. We need to ensure that she is also receiving care.

"I want to emphasise that at the moment this enquiry is not a criminal enquiry. We just want to ensure that the mother is safe.'

Anyone who can help police is asked to call Feltham Child Abuse Investigation Team on 0208 247 6331 or their local police station. If you wish to remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
