KEEN gardeners do not have too much longer to wait to discover how they have fared in the annual Hillingdon In Bloom Awards.
People who entered the contest to find the best gardens, window boxes, balconies, schools and pubs in the borough will gather at the Civic Centre at 3pm today (Thursday).
The ceremony will take place in the Mayor's Parlour and will see certificates and trophies handed out to the winners of the various categories.
Mary Worrall, Head of Highways and Green Spaces, said: "As with every year this year we had even more entries which made it more difficult to judge. This year was also the first year we invited residents of the borough to become judges so a big thank you to them all for their work. We hope more people will take part in next year's competition."
The competition is increasing in size and popularity each year. Entries are encouraged from residents, schools, restaurants, pubs, hotels and local businesses.
Friends, relatives or neighbours can also nominate a garden they feel deserves recognition. Entry into the competition is free and categories range from window boxes, balconies to front gardens and communal spaces.
If you are interested in becoming a judge or in entering the competition please contact Kerry Fellows on 01895 250 655 by April 30 2009.
