IN REPONSE to the increasing number of parents and carers contacting West London Community College for advice and support, the manager,Sandra Johnstone,and college director,Anna Kennedy, have decided to set up a support group.
The group is aimed at parents and carers of adults with a diagnosis of Autism or Asperger's Syndrome.
This is an opportunity for parents and carers to meet and discuss issues and realise they are not alone in their situation.
Representatives of relevant services will be invited to meetings, along with speakers offering advice on specific issues.
Parents and carers who have had contact with the college have been invited to the first meeting but there are many more who don't know where to turn or who to speak to.
If you are a parent or carer,or both, of an adult with a diagnosis of an Autistic Spectrum Disorder, please come along to the first Hillingdon Autism and Asperger's Parent Support meeting.
The event will be on October 2 between 6.30 and 8pm, at West London Community College, Longbridge Way, Uxbridge UB8 2YG.
