A THUG has been jailed after attacking a man with what is believed to be a trowel - inside a police station.

Anthony Walsh of Heathfield Road, Acton was locked up for six months after pleading guilty to actual bodily harm at Harrow Crown Court.

The court heard how the 19-year-old ran into Acton Police Station brandishing the weapon which police describe as a 'black handled tool with a silver edge'. He hit a 27-year-old man with the handle end, causing a 2cm cut to the victim's head.

CCTV released by police shows the weapon appears to be a trowel. It also looks as if he used the weapon to prise the station doors open and make his escape.

Attacker appears to be prising the station doors open

Walsh ran out of the station and was chased by officers who arrested him outside a nearby supermarket.

He was jailed on June 25 for the attack.

DC David Gill, Investigating officer of Ealing Gangs task force, said: “I am pleased that Walsh has received a custodial sentence. This is a particularly nasty assault on a community member that waited to be served in the safety of the local police station.”
