The string of early morning raids yesterday (Thursday 18) across the borough, Codenamed Operation Hammer, resulted in significant seizures of drugs, according to police.

It was set up in response to local intelligence received by residents and community concerns relating to drug dealing and anti-social behaviour.

A total of 15 drug search warrants were executed as officers battered down doors in Hounslow, Heston, Chiswick and Feltham, targeting those believed to be involved in the supply of drugs.

It resulted in the half-dozen arrests for possession with the intent to supply Class A and B drugs.

Around 100 officers took part in the operation, including borough commander Carl Bussey.

Chief Inspector Jon Kennady said: “This is one of the most intensive operations to disrupt drugs that this borough has ever seen, proving that the issue remains a top priority for Hounslow.

“We believe that crimes have a natural link to drugs. Our work will make those who blight the community seriously think twice about their involvement in drugs use and the drugs market.”

And he asked for the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police: “We can only carry out operations like this with the help of local residents. We will act on intelligence received to target criminals to help make a real difference to the communities of Hounslow.”
