A man has threatened to set fire to himself outside the BBC’s new Broadcasting House.

The front of the building, in Portland Place, Westminster, was cordoned off on Wednesday (June 10), though no one was evacuated from the building.

Police were called at 9.11am and a 36-year-old man was arrested for public order offences.

A police spokesman said he was being held in custody on Wednesday afternoon.

Officers also examined two plastic bags at the scene but these were found to be non-suspicious.

Some of the cordons have been taken down, but police remain at the scene and are working closely with security guards.
