A woman who was deaf for 20 years before an operation cured her hearing loss has now set up a support group to help others like her.
Ann Sargent, 56, of Larne Road, Ruislip Manor, came to the Gazette in September to help publicise the group. Since the article, two people have already come forward to ask for help.
She said: "I saw my first client last Wednesday and it went absolutely brilliantly.
"We had a very long chat about hearing, how she became deaf and the treatment she has had.
"She is going to go back to her GP to demand she gets a referral to a specialist. She went away very happy and hopefully she will have a better quality of life by interacting with our group."
Ms Sargent is also hoping to get a grant of £5,000 from Hillingdon Association of Voluntary Services to help set up the group and pay for all the equipment needed to run it.
She said: "Since the article went in the Gazette I have had two people come to me who have now been fitted with hearing aids. It's going extremely well."
