The 20-year-old student who had her leg amputated following The Smiler ride crash at Alton Towers made her modelling debut at the Shepherd’s Bush Market fashion show this weekend.

Former dancer Vicky Balch, 20, who lost her leg in the roller coaster crash in June, was taking part in the Models of Diversity (MoD) catwalk show on Saturday (October 3).

The market teamed-up with MoD, who campaign for greater diversity in the fashion industry, to host the one-off event.

Vicky, who lost her right leg above her knee when the Alton Towers ride crashed into an empty carriage, took to the catwalk with crutches. Among the clothes she modelled was a black strapless evening dress.

Also attending was TV presenter and Celebrity Big Brother contestant Gail Porter, and Sandi Bogle from TV’s Gogglebox.

The event showcased the wide-ranging variety within the market and its many vintage fabrics, clothes and accessories.
