A GROUP of dancers with learning disabilities were determined to prove that everybody’s got talent when they auditioned for a hit ITV show.

Impact Theatre had just a few minutes to impress Britain’s Got Talent producers at the Excel Centre last month.

The dancers, aged 22 to 45, performed an energetic routine using sign language to a recording of Something Inside So Strong sung by neighbours Ealing Rock Choir.

But the 13 members have to wait until the new year to see if the superstitious number is lucky enough for them to make it through to the televised round in front of celebrity judges Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden.

Rustom Davar, development officer for the inclusive acting club, said: “They had a great time. It was a great experience for the whole group of us who went to support them.

“We wanted to give it a go and we just went for it. Having a disability or not, we thought we would give it a shot. They’re all fans of the show. We took a coach down together, they were all really excited to be a part of the whole thing.”

Seasoned entertainers Paul Goodger, 22, and Lee Gentles, 30, from Ealing Mencap’s
rock band I Love Thunder were joined by Terry Smith, John Lang, Parag Popat, Kenneth Franklin, Lee Edwards, Corinne Moore-Hollingsworth, Henry Avella, Angela Thomas, Ashley Williams, Vicky Clay and Helena Rodrigues.

The club uses performing and creative arts to empower people with learning difficulties. And in February
it will relocate from Stirling Road, Acton, to a new studio in Perivale thanks to investment from the Social Enterprise Investment Fund and support from Ealing Council.
