POLICE are urging parents and school children to be vigilant after the attempted abduction of a young boy in Uxbridge.

The incident happened on Uxbridge Road, on June 17 at about 8am and the victim was a 13-year-old who was wearing a dark coloured school uniform.

He was walking alone to school during rush hour along the road near to Halls Terrace when the suspect made a grab for him but he was able to run home.

The suspect is an Asian male, aged about 30 years, shoulder length straight black hair, medium build with green eyes and stubble. He is believed to have a Jamaican accent.

He also has a half circle scar on his chin and was wearing a brown leather jacket, blue jeans, silver chain and a small silver dollar shaped earring in his left ear.

DC Matthews from Uxbridge CID said: "Incidents like this are extremely rare, but parents should take precautions and report anything they consider to be suspicious."
