As the cameras rolled, he also auctioned off the items that Messrs Axon and Stacey had bought while rummaging in shops in Enfield.

Bainbridge’s achieved national prominence in 2010, when a Chinese Qianlong Dynasty porcelain vase went under the hammer for £43million.

The footage recorded at Bainbridge’s is for the next series of Antiques Road Trip, which is due to be broadcast in the autumn.
