Hounslow charities, schools and community groups are being encouraged to apply for a chunk of the £200,000 funding on offer from TfL to promote cycling.

The clock is ticking for local cycling 'champions' to get their applications in for grants of up to £5,000 from the Community Cycling Fund for London (CCFfL).

TfL, which funds the CCFfL, and the London Cycle Campaign (LCC), which runs it, are looking for ideas that will inspire people to take up cycling or cycle more often.

Last year a £5,000 grant was awarded to Hounslow's WIZZBiKE Foundation, a charity which promotes cycling as a form of transport for adults and children with disabilities and helps them buy bikes, adaptive equipment and helmets.

People have until April 3 to get their applications in.
