STUDENTS were glad to see their hard work pay off when they got their results at Barnhill Community High School in Yeading Lane, Hayes.

The school beat last year's results by 22% with 56% of students achieving five A* to C. Jessica Alce, 16, who gained an four A*s, four As and a B, said: "I’m so happy, it’s really nice to know I did so well. I’m looking forward to sixth form now, as I aim to go to university."

Taiba Razwan, 16, who got an impressive three A*s, five As and two Bs said: "I worked so hard for my exams and received a lot of support from my teachers, but I was so nervous last night that I didn’t sleep. I’m particularly pleased with my A*s but I think my mum’s more excited with my results than I am."

Zoe Cole, 16 achieved six Bs alongside the two B grade GCSE’s which she took a year early. She said: "If I’m honest I exceeded my expectations, I’m so happy and very proud of myself."

Jonathan Xu, 16, who got an A*, six As and a B, said: "I didn’t think I would get such good results, but I definitely wouldn’t have done so well if it wasn’t for my maths teacher, Mr Chentouf. I will be staying on at Barnhill for A-levels now because I think the teaching is great."

Robert Lobatto, Headteacher at Barnhill added: "We are extremely proud of our students who have achieved so much with the support of very dedicated teachers, and I am also pleased to see our pass rate has risen so significantly. We will be looking forward to another very successful year in 2010."
