A 20-year-old man needed hospital treatment after being hit by a car that failed to stop.

The collision happened on Easter Monday (yesterday) at around 12noon near the BP Garage in Field End Road, Ruislip.

The victim was walking past a parade of shops next to the petrol station when he was hit by the car, believed to be a Ford Focus, which was seen driving away from the crash.

He suffered a head injury and was taken by London Ambulance Service to a central London hospital for treatment.

His injuries were not found to be life threatening or life changing and he was later discharged from hospital.

Officers from Hillingdon Criminal Investigation Department (CID) are investigating and trying to trace the Ford Focus.

Detective Sergeant Kofi of Hillingdon CID said: "We are following up a number of lines of enquiry, but we would also ask anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact Hillingdon Police.

"Your information may be vital in tracing both the driver and vehicle."
