A CHARITY event with a whopping £10,000 fund-raising goal is to be held in Bedfont later this year, featuring a set from one of one London's most famous garage DJ's.

28-year-old Chris Beauchamp, the owner of Bedfont based promotions company KGF Entertainments, is planning a day called Army In The Park on Saturday September 3.

It will be held at Bedfont Football and Social Club, to raise the sum for Help for Heroes, a charity formed to help those wounded in Britain's conflicts.

This week Mr Beauchamp, of Stanwell Road in Bedfont, and fellow organiser and DJ Paul Sharp, from Sunbury, were pleased to announce that Kiss 100's DJ EZ and 'king of garage' will play in the evening.

The event will run from 2pm to 10pm, and will feature several 'zones' for visitors to enjoy, including a nostalgia area with a military exhibition from the Military Vehicle Trust and a stage performance from 'The Clove Sisters', a thirties and forties cover trio, a retail area, with burger and ice cream vans, a hog roast, and a beer tent among other treats.

There will also be a family fun zone including candy floss and popcorn, two bouncy castles, face painting, hair braiding, and pony rides.

A festival area will host a number of variety acts and DJ's, including DJ EZ himself.

Tickets in advance cost £10 each, and the organisers say that 100 per cent of the money from ticket sales and donations will go to the charity.

Mr Beauchamp said: "The target donation amount, which we are hoping to exceed is £10,000.

"I chose to do something so big because we run a lot of smaller events, which I really enjoy, but I wanted to do something much bigger for charity. Help for Heroes was ideal because so many people have friends or family members who have been fighting. I am very excited about it all, Paul and I are working very hard, we were going to do it last year but we didn't know if we were ready, but it's going to be great."

The event will cost nearly £15,000 to host, and Mr Beauchamp is drumming up favours and support from the business community to cover these costs, money will also be generated from the sale of advertising space in the programme.
