Ealing Hospital maternity campaigners were "unconvinced" after the local Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) allegedly called the closure of the unit an "achievement".
Members of the Ealing Save Our NHS Campaign said the local CCG listed the closure of the maternity ward, plus "the privatisation and outsourcing of Ealing health services", an "achievement" at the latter's AGM meeting on Wednesday (July 15).
Protesters say an audience of around 80 - including GPs, health workers and members of the public - clearly did not agree.
An open letter signed by 500 Ealing residents objecting to the closure of the unit was given to CCG chair Mohini Parmar by Eve Turner from Ealing Save Our NHS.
Oliver New, also from the campaign, said: "Ealing CCG is clearly not representing residents. Instead it seems to prefer to cut and privatise NHS services."
A spokeswoman for Ealing CCG said: "Ealing CCG reported the closure of the maternity unit had occurred safely and had achieved improved quality of maternity care for women across north-west London.
"As a result, there is now an improved continuity of care during antenatal and postnatal care for Ealing women, with more of that care now available in the borough of Ealing.
"We are also investing in the community midwife team and have increased the number of midwives and consultants in the six maternity units in north-west London.
"No privatisation occurred."
