Ealing's Lib Dems are urging people to sign a campaign for the improvement of mental illness treatment in London.
Liberal Democrats nationally have already succeeded in getting many organisations in the capital to sign The Crisis Care Concordat, an agreement on how they can improve mental health services together.
The treaty commits organisations to 24-hour access to mental health support, urgent access to mental health treatment just like A&E provides for physical health, quality of treatment and care when in crisis and recovery.
Ealing's Lib Dems are calling on people to sign a petition asking London bodies to commit themselves to improving mental health care.
Councillor Gary Malcolm, Ealing Liberal Democrats Leader, said: "One in four people experience a mental health issue in their life and when they do it is important we can prevent these turning into suicides by improving our health service.
"Each of us can also treat those who appear to have a mental health issue with respect and not avoid the issue with friends and colleagues. If we can reduce the stigma of mental health issues then sufferers are more likely to open up which will reduce the number of suicidal actions."
