Three people have been convicted following the murder of 21-year-old Yasir Beshira in west Hampstead.

M Beshira died after he was shot in the stomach in Palmerston Road on December 8 last year.

A 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was found guilty of murder on Monday (October 23) following a trial at the Old Bailey.

Sammi Tesfazgi, 21, of Lithos Road NW3 was also convicted of murder, and Rilind Tahiri, 22, of North Road N7, was convicted of manslaughter.

All three were remanded in custody and will be sentenced on November 27.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police were called out to reports of a man collapsed in Netherwood Street NW6 at around 5.20pm on December 8 last year.

A Met Police statement said: "When officers and London Ambulance Service attended, Yasir Beshira, 21, was being tended to by members of the public - he had suffered a gun shot wound to the stomach.

"Despite the efforts of everyone present, Yasir was pronounced dead at the scene.

"A post-mortem examination conducted on Saturday, December 10 2016 gave cause of death as a gunshot wound to the abdomen."

Three people have been convicted and will be sentenced at The Old Bailey on November 27 in connection with the shooting of Yasir Beshira.

The statement added: "Just prior to the shooting, Yasir had been in Palmerston Road where he was approached by a lone male who we now know to have been the 16-year-old.

"He shot Yasir and immediately fled the scene on foot along Palmerston Road and into the Webheath Estate.

"Despite having been shot, Yasir managed to make his way to Netherwood Street where he collapsed.

"The 16-year-old had been driven to the scene in a stolen car by Tahiri and Tesfazgi. They then waited for him to return before driving him away.

"After the shooting Tahiri set fire to the car in a bid to destroy evidence."

Subsequent enquiries identified that the firearm used in the murder had been linked to a non-fatal shooting in Camden on September 29 2016. A knife was also recovered from that scene which was forensically linked to Tesfazgi.

DCI Partridge, from the Met, said: "This shocking attack was carried out during rush hour in a very busy residential location. I want to thank those members of the public who came forward to try and save Yasir after he was shot and those who greatly assisted the police investigation.

"I understand that nothing will bring Yasir back to his family, but hope that the verdicts given today will bring a measure of comfort to his family and friends.

"This was a complex and protracted investigation and these convictions serve to remind those planning such violent attacks on our streets that they will be pursued and brought to justice for their actions."

Two people were found guilty of assisting an offender during the same trial.

Ashley McFarland, 35, of Hertford, Hertfordshire was convicted of assisting an offender. He has been remanded in custody and will be sentenced at the Old Bailey on November 27.

Kim McFarland, 59, of Belsize Park, NW3 was convicted of assisting an offender. She has been released on bail and will be sentenced at the Old Bailey on November 27.
