GENEROUS shoppers have been donating gifts for the Observer’s Christmas – and this is your last chance to get involved!

Every year the Observer teams up with Harrow Council to collect presents from our readers which are delivered to poorly children staying in Jack’s Place paediatric ward at Northwick Park Hospital over the Christmas period.

We have been running the Toy Appeal every Christmas for nine years and in previous years, England football star Rachel Yankey, Olympian canoeist Richard Hounslow, and singer-songwriter Kate Nash have played the role of Father Christmas, helping to give poorly children and their parents a day to remember.

The deadline for dropping off gifts is on Friday (December 5), so if you want to get involved, please buy a toy today.

Director of nursing at the hospital, Carole Flowers, said: “Every year we are overwhelmed by the local support for the Toy Appeal. We receive so many fabulous presents for the children and the volume of gifts ensures we are able to give presents to all our children throughout the festive period.

“I would like to thank everyone who has supported us over the years.”

From all of us at the Observer, we thank you in advance for donating to this year’s appeal and thanks all our readers who have donated to the appeal over the years. It is a joy to see the reaction when the gifts are distributed.

How get involved: While you are Christmas shopping, buy a toy for a boy or girl and drop it off at any of the Harrow borough libraries. The gifts must be new, but there is no need to wrap them. Then we will do the rest!
