A road has been closed in North Acton due to flooding on Friday morning (June 17).

It follows severe weather warnings being issued on Thursday for prolonged periods of rain in west London that could cause surface water flooding.

In Victoria Road, near the Wales Farm Road junction, the area below a bridge had accumulated so much water that it has been deemed unsafe to pass through.

It has also been reported that the road surface is in poor condition in both directions due to the flooding on the road.

A diversion is currently in operation for bus route 266.

On Twitter user Co Work Hub had tweeted a picture showing the water underneath the bridge, with "Road Closed" sign visible.

The user said: "Victoria road #victoriaroad in North Acton, blocked road due to flooding underneath bridge."

It is not yet clear how long it will take to clear up the road so that drivers can pass through the bridge again.

Last week, North Harrow railway station was hit by flash flooding and was closed , along with surrounding cafes and businesses.
