Weekends are a time to get out and enjoy some free time, but make sure you do not get stuck in traffic on the roads.

With ongoing roadworks and events closing roads across west London, we have your guide on what areas to avoid this weekend.

Twickenham

Roads surrounding Twickenham stadium will be closed on Saturday November 26 due to international rugby being played at the stadium.

Motorists should be warned that the area is expected to be populated by large numbers of pedestrians both before and after the matches.

There are two games, the first, England v Argentina kick's off at 2:30pm, England women's team then play Canada, kicking off at 5:05pm. Traffic levels expected to increase before and after the matches.

Avoid the A316 Chertsey Road if possible, as delays are expected.

London Road, Whitton Road and Rugby Road will be closed and diversions will be in place.

Hayes

The road is closed to facilitate emergency gas works

Following the evacuation of Station Road in Hayes on November 21 due to a Gas Leak, the road remains closed to motorists, whilst gas works are carried out.

Motorists should be advised that Station Road is closed in all directions at the junction of St Anselms Road.

The road will remain closed until Monday, November 28.

Hanwell

Expect delays on the A4020 Uxbridge Road in all directions at the junction of Boston Road in Hanwell , due to works facilitating a major borough street scheme.

TfL warns of delays until September 1 2017.

Chiswick

The A4, Great West Road westbound between Chiswick Roundabout and Clayponds Avenue will be closed between approximately 10pm and 5am during the night, to allow for road resurfacing works.

There will be no access to the A4 westbound from the M4, Junction 2 until Wednesday, November 30 whilst the works take place.

Also in Chiswick, motorists are advised to avoid Power Road due to ongoing roadworks.

TfL continue to warn of possible delays in both directions on the A406 Gunnersbury Avenue at the junction of Power Road in Chiswick.

It is due to the closure of Power Road for continuing bridge replacement works.

Works began in June this year and will continue until December 31.

And finally in Chiswick, motorists are advised to expect delays on Chiswick High Road.

Closures are in place until Monday

It is due to emergency sewer works being carried out on the A315 Chiswick High Road.

As a result, Heathfield Terrace will be closed and two-way temporary traffic lights will be in place between the hours of 7pm and 5am.

Closures will be in place until Monday, November 28.

Kew Bridge

Electrical work will be carries out

Motorists should be aware of lane closures on the A205 Kew Bridge Road in at the junction of Kew Road, it's due to work to facilitate electrical works.

Expect delays in all directions.

Knightsbridge

Work continues until April 2019 during the redevelopment of 55-91 Knightsbridge .

It is affecting the A4 in Knightsbridge in both directions between Wilton Place and William Street and the westbound bus lane is closed.

Hyde Park

Motorists are being warned to expect large numbers of pedestrians in the Hyde Park Corner, Marble Arch and Park Lane areas due to the park's Winter Wonderland event.

The event is open from 10am until 10pm daily and some internal roads within the park will be closed or for event access only.

Kensington

Restrictions are in place until December 9

There will be lane restrictions and temporary traffic lights in operation on the A402 Bayswater Road westbound at the junction of Kensington Palace Gardens.

Restrictions will remain in place whilst works are carried out until December 9.

Hammersmith

Motorists should expect delays on Hammersmith bridge.

The A306 at the bridge has a new weight limit imposed. Due to safety reasons, only one bus can cross the bridge at a time.

Delays will continue until the bridge is fully refurbished, which is expected to be by the end of December this year.

Wembley Park

The road is closed until December 6

From Sunday, November 27 until December 6, Engineers Way will be closed between First Way and Rutherford Way in Wembley Park to facilitate installation of new drainage.
