Police officers on patrol at this year's Notting Hill Carnival seized a considerable quantity of counterfeit alcohol on Monday morning (August 31).

The counterfeit alcohol was seized at approximately 11am on the corner of Ladbroke Grove and Elgin Crescent.

The alcohol, which is estimated to have a street value in excess of £30,000, included over 260 bottles of assorted spirits and Champagne, over 50 cases of beer and cider, and six large containers of rum punch.

The alcohol has been examined and is believed to be counterfeit and over-proof.

'Over-proof' alcohol refers to alcohol containing a greater proportion of alcohol than proof spirit, usually containing more than 50 percent alcohol by volume.

The matter has been referred to Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea Trading Standards.
