Car on fire was cause of temporary A40 closure at Greenford this morning

The London-bound A40 closed and then reopened this morning after a car caught fire.

Flat fire in North Kensington

Transport for London has tweeted a picture of a vehicle on fire on the London-bound side of the A40 at Greenford earlier this morning.

The tweet from @TfL Traffic News said the incident was causing tailbacks all the way to Hillingdon Circus, which was still the case at 9am.

London Fire Brigade said one appliance from Northolt fire station attended and the blaze was out by 8.30am.

Website AA Roadwatch was showing stationary traffic all the way from the South Greenford station area to Hillingdon at 9am.
