State Bank of India will open its latest branch in Hounslow High Street on Monday (January 25).

As well as the traditional British ribbon-cutting, there will be a diya lamp-lighting ceremony familiar to those from India.

That weekend, on January 30 and 31, there will be children's entertainment, a henna artist and giveaways in store to welcome new customers.

The bank currently has 10 branches in the UK, with another in Ilford due to open on the same day as the Hounslow one.

It was established in 1806, has about 190 million customers worldwide and the majority share is owned by the Indian government.

As well as the usual range of facilities, services at the Hounslow branch will include safety deposit boxes and remittances.

The bank had originally planned to open the branch last summer , but the launch date was considerably delayed.
