An online supermarket has announced plans to create 200 new jobs in Hillingdon.

Ocado unveiled a new 56,947sq-ft delivery hub in Stockley Close, due to be opened in October.

The site will be home to around 90 of Ocado's iconic brightly-coloured vans.

The supermarket is now recruiting 200 drivers on a permanent basis to deliver shopping to customers' homes throughout the week and during all seasons.

Candidates must hold an EU or UK driving licence, with Ocado describing the ideal candidate as having “a passion for delivering award-winning customer service”.

Director of HR Julie Markey said: “As we continue to expand our business in Greater London, we're excited to announce the opening of our newest delivery hub in Hillingdon.

“The site at Stockley Close is perfectly located for serving our customers who live in the south-west London area and we're now on the hunt for 200 enthusiastic, customer service focused new drivers to join the team."

Current Ocado driver Christopher Andrews said: “I joined Ocado to make the most of my customer service skills and I take a lot of pride in each deliver I make.

“Since joining two years ago, I've been given various opportunities to develop my skills. In particular, I was delighted to be promoted to my role as trainer, allowing me to use my coaching skills, which I really enjoy.

“I also regularly buddy up with new recruits to show them the ropes and I feel like I'm really making a difference.”
